Originally only the hexagonal rotunda portion of the church existed. The nave, St. Nicholas Church, was added in the 14th century. The entire inner wall of the rotunda and the eastern wall of the nave are covered in 14th Century murals.
The small baroque tower was added in the 18th century. Today this sacred place is known as the Greek-Catholic Church of the Protection of Our Most Holy Lady and Ever-Virgin Mary.
