This hand painted tile memorial is located in the house where Zeca Afonso lived in Coimbra, and was placed by the Promoter Commission of Popular Celebrations of the April 25th (April 25th was the date of the Carnation Revolution in 1974).
The memorial presents a image of Zeca Afonso and the following text:
Nesta casa viveu
o trovador da liberdade
José Afonso (O Zeca)
Em cada esquina um amigo
em cada rosto igualdade.
O povo é quem mais ordena
dentro de ti ó cidade.
Which says that in this house lived the Troubadour of Freedom, José Afonso (commonly known as Zeca), and contains an excerpt of the song Grândola, Vila Morena which is commonly referred as the anthem of the revolution.
