James O'Brien was a wealthy land owner in the Braidwood district who at the time of his death, owned properties totalling 40,000 acres.
He was predeceased by both of his wives who are interred in the vault along with several of his brothers, sons & their wives.
The vault is made of local granite & is topped by a marble cross the base of which has inscribed the names & dates of death of all interred in the vault. Time & weather has made some of the inscriptions illegible.
