Termen is a small municipality in the district of Brig in the canton Wallis with a population of about 870. The main part of Termen is located west of Brig at the north slope of the Simplon Pass. The village Rosswald, that is a small skiing resort is also a part of the municipality. Rosswald has no direct road connection to Termen and can only be reached by gondola lift in winter.
The early history of Termen is not well documented. It used to be a part of Naters before and became an independent municipality in the 13th century.
The residents of Termen used to be mainly farmers. Tourism started in the 1950. There was a slate quarry in Termen until 1974 and for a few years a company has been producing mineral water.
The town hall is located in a yellow building of the 1980s near the town center that combines several services. It is the town hall, the local tourist information center, the local fire brigade headquarter and has a meeting hall that is also used as school gym.
