The sculpture is made from a block of Carrara marble that had been discovered in a ship wreck off the coast of Barmouth.

The wreck was discovered in 1978 by a group of local sub-aqua enthusiasts. One of the blocks was later hauled from the sea and donated to Barmouth council.

The sculptor was a local man, Frank Cocksey. It represents 3 generations of fishermen hauling in their nets.
Originally a fishing village renowned for its boat building, the town of Barmouth has been a popular seaside resort for many years.

It is situated on the road loading to the harbour opposite the Last Inn.
Sector of the workforce: Fishermen

Created or Donated by which group: Sculpted by Frank Cocksey for Barmouth Council
