A church has been on this site since the 11th century.
Although three fires and German bombing during World War II required the rebuilding of this Anglican church, the structure was one of the few churches to escape the great London fire of 1666.

The church's website (
visit link) has a verrrrrry extensive article about the church's two organs
One of the organs (from 1733) was originally from St. Luke's..a parish which was eventually merged with this church. The other organ is first mentioned in the church's records from 1672. There is also a practive organ in the church.
