"El Museu Marítim de Barcelona es una institución consagrada en la cultura marítima con más de 75 años de historia, que tiene la misión de conservar, estudiar y difundir una de las colecciones de patrimonio marítimo más importantes de la Mediterránea.
Se encuentra ubicado en el edificio de las Atarazanas Reales, en la fachada marítima de la ciudad y al pie de la montaña de Montjuïc, que es uno de los edificios de arte gótico civil más importantes y mejor conservados del mundo. Las Atarazanas fueron catalogadas, el 1976, como Monumento Histórico-Artístico.
Este equipamiento está gestionado por el Consorcio de las Atarazanas Reales y Museu Marítim de Barcelona, formado por el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona, la Diputación de Barcelona y la Autoridad Portuaria de Barcelona. El 2006, el Museu Marítim de Barcelona fue declarado Museo de Interés Nacional.
Actualmente, el edificio y la exposición de la colección del Museo se encuentran en proceso de renovación. Por un lado, se están llevando a cabo obras de restauración y mejora del edificio. Por otro lado, se está trabajando en la renovación de la museografía que supone un cambio más allá de la exposición, hacia un nuevo Museu Marítim."

"The Maritime Museum of Barcelona is an institution dedicated to the maritime culture with over 75 years of history, which has the mission to preserve, study and disseminate the collections of major maritime heritage of the Mediterranean.
It is located in the building of the Royal Dockyards in the seafront of the city at the foot of the mountain of Montjuïc, one of civil Gothic buildings most important and best preserved in the world. The shipyards were categorized, 1976, as a Historic-Artistic Monument.
This equipment is managed by the Consortium of the Royal Dockyards and Maritime Museum of Barcelona, made by the City of Barcelona, ??Barcelona Provincial Council and the Port Authority of Barcelona. In 2006, the Barcelona Maritime Museum Museum was declared of National Interest.
