Nanobojo seems to be a repurposed muffler man. He has the distinctive outstretched arms and size. Nanobojo stands guard over the Wolf Trading Post in Bemidji and looks over the nearby Lake Bemidji. A fairly unknown folktale has it that Nanobojo beat Paul Bunyan to death with a fish because of Paul's disregard for the environment as he slashed the forest and streams. Paul and Babe, the official Bemidji welcome statues stand just across the road from Nanobojo.
