Minas Gerais is a state in central Brazil. Wedged between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro states, the gold towns are known for the architecture and history.
There are many churches in the region. A lot of them are in Oro Preto. The baroque churches are around the historic center of the city.
Mines are also an interesting tourist location for visitors. You can visit mines and take tours of the shafts.
