2011 is the first year that this temporary outdoor rink opened in Edmond. It is located under the pavilion at Festival Market Place, where in the summer the Farmer's Market is held.
Hours are daily noon to 10 p.m., with just a couple of variances on the holidays.
The most fascinating thing about this rink is the man who runs it. According to an article in the Edmond Sun, Dmitri Logoutine, the 1989 Junior World Ice Dance Champion from Russia came to Oklahoma City with the Russian Ballet on Ice in 1994-95. While in Oklahoma City, he became stranded when the funding to support the tour collapsed. Edmond residents helped support Dmitri and Oklahoma Christian University gave him a scholarship. The ice rink is a way for him to repay the citizens of Edmond for the kindness shown to him. The rink supports charitable causes, which include accepting donations on Mondays for the Hope Center in return for a $1 discount.

General admission is $8. Children 3 and under: $5. Those with their own skates pay only $5. Pop's has a catering truck on site and the prices are very reasonable. Hamburgers, nachos, sodas, hot chocolate, etc. are sold by a friendly staff.
Music is played and colored lights make for a fun atmosphere. There are bleachers for those who'd like to sit up high and watch, as well as a large amount of tables and chairs for those who want a break or a place to sit down and enjoy their food from Pop's.
Update: approximately Dec. 2014 the ice rink will be in operation at Mitch Park, on the north side of town.
