Tha Ganthaus of Basel is located in an industrial zone in the southeast of the city. Parking space is limited and there is a lot of heavy traffic.
The auction house is formally a sub-department of the department of justice. The officers of this department organize the public auctions, but are also responsible for the control of private and commercial auctions in the canton.
The main part of the auctions are forced sales, sometimes confiscated goods and not reclaimed items of the lost and found department. They also take goods from private sellers, but limited to antiques and art.
On auction days the house opens at 9:00 to let you inspect the items. Auctions start at 10:00.
