In Canada's national anthem, the line The True North strong and free! refers to all of Canada but over 75% of Canadians live with 160 km (100 miles) of the US border (referring to the border with the lower 48). Yukon is 1225 km (760 miles) north of the 49th parallel and extends almost as far north as the top of Alaska. This makes is Canada's True North.
With a population density of only 0.07 /km2 (0.18 /sq mi), there are vast regions of untouched nature here. By comparison, the population density of Alaska is almost 6 times greater, 0.4 /km2 (1.07/sq mi).
