Ezekiel Torroella – Palamos, Spain - Dedicated Benches on Waymarking.com

He was born in Palamos and in his youth trained under the artist Palmada Francesc Vidal.

After fighting in the Spanish Civil War he settled in Barcelona and studied at the Barcelona Institute of Art.

He had his first exhibition in 1947 and in his early years specialised in water colours and was a member of the association of Watercolour Painters of Catlonia. From the 1960s he switched to painting in oils.

He specialised in coastal scenes, especially liking to record the natural beauty of the Spanish coast before being developed and built upon.

After he died his widow Mary Forme donated a number of his paintings to the town of Palamos. This information was taken from the following website and translated from the original Catalan language. (visit link)

The life size figure was sculpted in bronze by Joan Abras and it was unveiled on 10th April 2005. He is both a painter and sculptor who in his paintings also often depicts coastal scenery. To my untrained eye I would say his style is much more surrealistic and often includes female nudes. (visit link)
