The next stage of renovation work for Machynlleth Town Clock will be able to go ahead after the Heritage Lottery Fund agreed a grant of over £40,000.

The clock has already undergone extensive work to repair and renovate it after a lengthy fundraising campaign by Machynlleth Town Council led by former mayor Glenda Jenkins.

The news that the Heritage Lottery Fund has agreed the grant for £40,700 has been welcomed. That grant is on top of earlier funding.

But as well as funding for repair and renovation work, the HLF funding will also pay for schemes that will record memories of the clock, an exhibition at the Plas and two projects for local schools.
