In 1963 a special reserve for Water Supply Purposes was excised from the park and the distinctive 'mushroom' style water tower constructed. It is the Toowoomba City Council's reservoir No.11. Until recently it could be seen for many miles as one approached from the East, unfortunatly some very large trees have grown up around it schrouding it from view.
