ENG: Neolog Synagogue, built in the second half of the 1860s on the plans of a Budapest-based architect, Károly Benkó, the detailed architectural design was prepared by the Örömy, Bencz and Bergh partnership, construction works were completed by Wilhelm Fränkel (Vienna). It was inaugurated on 15th September, 1870, together with the 2-storey adajacent building utilized as a Jewish school. As realizing the stylistic character of late historism and Art Noveau at the same time, it served as a pattern for dozens of synagogues throughout East-Europe. After the Holocaust it has become abandoned, from 1960 on the main church hasn't been used for religious purposes any more. From 2003 to 2006 it was refurbished thoroughly, even the indoor ornaments have been restored according to the original plans, and now it is used as a cultural centre, e.g. it houses and displays the well-known Vasilescu private collection of works of art.
HU: Az egykori gyori zsinagóga az Újvárosban, a Kossuth Lajos utca 5. szám alatt (Petofi tér) található. A 19. században épült historikus és szecessziós stílusban. Ma múzeumépületként szolgál, illetve kulturális rendezvényeknek ad otthont. Benkó Károly pesti építész tervei alapján épült. 1870. szeptember 15-én avatták fel a templomépülethez kapcsolódó, kétemeletes iskolával együtt. A részletes kiviteli terveket az Örömy, Hencz és Bergh nevu pesti cég dolgozta ki, a kivitelezo Fränkel Vilmos bécsi építész volt. A késo historizmus és szecesszió szellemében épített zsinagóga Gyor egyik reprezentatív épülete lett. Hosszú ideig mintaként szolgált más városok zsinagógáinak építéséhez, mint a nagyvárosi környezetbe jól illeszkedo, nagy befogadóképességu zsinagógák méltó eloképe.
CZ: Neologická synagoga, postavená v letech 1868-70 podle plánu budapeštského architekta Károly Benko. Slavnostne byla otevrena 15. zárí 1870, spolu s dvoupodlažní prilehlou budovou židovské školy. Je postavena ve stylu pozdního historicismu a secese. Sloužila jako vzor pro desítky synagog v celé východní Evrope. Po holocaustu byla opuštená, a od roku 1960 již nebyla použita pro náboženské úcely. V letech 2003 až 2006 byla zrekonstruována podle puvodních plánu a nyní slouží jako kulturní centrum.
