Jasmin Restaurant—Pakse, Laos. - Vegetarian Eateries on Waymarking.com

Pakse is a pleasant small city in the south of the small and pleasant country of Laos. In the city centre, near the river, along the main street, is a line of cafes and restaurants (the classy area of the city), and one of these makes a point of providing vegetarian food. This is an Indian restaurant, and like most Indian restaurants (I have come across) it has a specific vegetarian menu. This was the only vegetarian restaurant I found in the town.

The vegetarian menu selection runs to several pages and has a good range of tasty food. Unfortunately, not every item is available every day, but there should always be enough to satisfy one's palete.

The restaurant is run by a father and son team, who had a reason for not being in India, but were a little hesitant to explain that particular reason on a first acquaintance. The restaurant has seating for 25 or so people, and has friendly service. Like most businesses in communist countries the restaurant was extremely entrepreneurial, offering for sale: packaged food of various sorts (including local coffee), magazines/books on Laos, tours of the region, and bus tickets. Recommended, if you find your self in southern Laos.
