Piece carved by artist Jesus Bautista Moroles. Area of the garden this piece is located is the J. Edgar Monroe Overlook Terrace. Very nice locateion to sit and look at the piece and the calm lagoon.
A Brief description comes from the official Garden Walking guide, which states
Born and educated in Texas, Moroles brings aspects of his Mexican heritage to the creation of his stone sculptures, often in monumental in scale. Working almost exclusively in granite, his work shows an interplay of textures that contrast cool polished surfaces with rough torn edges. The density of his materials and the daring carving of the stone evokes a sense of surprise and whimsy.
