Na península de Setúbal, no contraforte Leste da serra da Arrábida, está situado entre os estuários do rio Tejo e do rio Sado, próximo à foz deste último. Inscreve-se na chamada Costa Azul, no Parque Natural da Arrábida. Do alto da sua torre de menagem, em dias claros a vista se descortina até Lisboa.
Está classificado como Monumento Nacional.

(ENG) The Palmela Castle is located in the village, parish and county of the same name, district of Setubal, Portugal. In Setúbal peninsula, in the foothills east of Arrábida mountains, is situated between the estuaries of the River Tagus and the Sado River, near the mouth of the latter. It forms part of the Costa Azul, in the Natural Park of Arrábida. From the top of its donjon, on clear days the view stretches out to Lisbon.
It is classified as a National Monument.
