Although saxophones are used in some classical music, they are most often associated with jazz music. They are classed as woodwind instruments and were invented in 1846 by Belgian instrument maker Adolphe Sax.

I don’t know much about saxophones, but presumably if the jazz club is called the Cafe Alto this saxophone is an Alto Sax.

I also assume that the club is frequented by many saxophonists. If you fancy becoming a saxophonist yourself, you will need to be prepared to spend between 2000 and 8000 US Dollars to buy a new one.

The jazz club is just off the Leidesplein, one of the busiest and popular centres for nightlife in Amsterdam. It is on the road called Korte Leidsedwarsstraat.
