A statue of a woman holding a baby stands atop a rock memorial with a worn plaque. This is considered part of the Rawson Square area.
The piece's actual title according to the Bahamian Government, is "Bahamian Mother and Child".
In grateful tribute to the Bahamian Woman whose steadfast love and devotion sustained our nation through countless years of adversity. Original motion to erect this monument by Hon. Oscar Johnson, President House of Assembly 12 March 1968. This monument presented Bahamian people by Edward M Carey, Grand Bahaman Petroleum Company Limited on Independence Plus One. Dedicated 5 August 1974 by Hon. Lynden O. Pindling, Primer Minister
