Stonehenge is possibly the most famous ancient observatory extant. A replica sits in the grounds of the Ancient Observatory Park, which is part of the large and pleasant Lake Gardens Park, located in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. The Observatory Park contains other replicas of historical observatories and is close to the national planetarium and not too far from the national museum.
The replica is a scaled down version, composed of something authentic in appearance, and solid in construction. The original Stonehenge in southern England is a pre-historic construct, used for astrological and religious purposes, as well as a burial ground.
Entry to the park and the grounds are free. This area is one of the tourist sites of KL.
