This small museum has many displays on the history of the Geumsan region of Korea, long noted for its ginseng production.

It is hard to miss this museum coming into the town of Geumsan with the towering figures of two ginseng roots (resembling a man and woman) in the fountain at the edge of the highway in front of the museum. There is a large parking area with a lovely park and pond beside it, with the museum building sitting back.
This are has been noted as one of the chief ginseng producing areas in Korea, and it is said that some 80% of all ginseng sold in the country goes through the large market here. There is an annual ginseng festival and an ginseng expo.
The mus
eum does have a lot of history about local ginseng production, but also has displays and artifacts of other aspects of the local history. There are illustrative plaques around the base of the fountain depicting ginseng history, and a large mural on the front of the museum building.
