 The "Jardim do Cerco" , which began in the eighteenth century, has been completed and gradually restored according to the principles of the art of the Baroque own gardens. Thisprime space, consists of two main parts: The Botanical Garden of aesthetic concern,containing the lake, and the Grove of the most scenic character, allowing the collection and intimacy. The noria of great architectural quality, which is another intermediate elementmechanical recovery seems important for the movement and sound that will transmit to the environment of the Garden. The presence of water is indeed a constant, pointing out aremarkable system of mines that extends the Mafra Hunting Reserve, collecting three milesalong the ground and headed for the lakes and Convent Garden.

 O Jardim do cerco, iniciado no século XVIII, tem vindo a ser restaurado e gradualmente finalizado segundo os princípios da arte de jardins própria do Barroco. Este nobre espaço, é constituído por duas partes fundamentais: O Jardim Botânico, de preocupação estética, contendo o lago; e o Bosque, de caracter mais paisagístico, propiciando o recolhimento e a intimidade. A nora, de grande qualidade arquitectónica, é outro elemento intermediário cuja recuperação mecânica parece importante pelo movimento e sonoridade que transmitirá ao ambiente do Jardim. A presença da água é aliás uma constante, salientando-se um notável sistema de minas que se estende pela Tapada de Mafra, recolhendo ao longo de três quilómetros as águas subterrâneas e dirigindo-se para o Convento e para os lagos do Jardim.
