The curling center in Arlesheim was built in 1970 with five rinks. In 1987 three additional rinks were built at the location of the former public swimming pool that was in the same building until 1983. This made it Europe's largest curling center at this time. The center was the location of the Swiss national championships seven times and there are also other internationally recognized tournaments.
The facility also contains a restaurant and a banquet hall that can be rented.
The center is organized as a co-op, all curling clubs in the region own shares of it. Some of these clubs are in the international top league and have played at the Olympics and World championships.
The rinks can also be rented outside the regular training hours of the clubs or tournament days. Sometimes there are public events with curling classes and fun tournaments. Check the agenda on their web site for dates. (http://www.curling-basel.ch/agenda/news/)
