All up and down the Lincoln Highway Corridor, from York to Gettysburg and everywhere in between, this non-profit organization has made ernest efforts to preserve local history and recognize those who do so. Such is the case with this house. This house was the recipient of the Historic Gettysburg-Adams County Inc., 2004 Historic Preservation Award. The house was built circa 1753. The museum quality restorations were performed by T.L. Sanders, Historic Building Preservation Specialist (717-259-7096).
The Frederick Wolf House was built in c.1753 and is the second-oldest house in Abbottstown. It predates the founding of Gettysburg (1780) by 30 years. The house was built by the Abbott family, who also built the Abbott House, the borough's oldest structure. The Wolf Family lived in the house from 1820's to the 1890's and built several additions to the original log cabin. This 10 year restoration represents an investment of over $40,000 and an estimated 5,600 hours of labor, according to the owner. SOURCE

The red plaque, attached to the front of the house also has some numbers on it as well. One of the numbers is 96, the other, LPL 86. I do not know what LPL 86 means. The 96 means this was the 96th property to receive the award since the organizations started to hand them out to people.
HGAC is a non-profit organization formed in 1975 to spearhead and coordinate efforts to preserve and restore the historic heritage of Adams County's townships and boroughs. An all-volunteer Board of Directors, elected by the membership, guides the organization. Under its Articles of Incorporation filed with the Pennsylvania Department of State, the Purposes of the organization are: "To foster and participate in the preservation, interpretation and welfare of the historic, architectural, scenic and culturally significant areas, districts, sites, structures, objects, and activities, and townscapes of the Borough of Gettysburg and Adams County, the Gettysburg National Cemetery and the Eisenhower National Historic Site, and to encourage their appreciation by the general public."
