Lucenec Neolog synagogue was built in 1924-1925 by design of Hungarian architect Lipot Baumhorn - it was one of twenty synagogues that he has built. After WW II it was confiscated by the communist state and used as a storehouse for fertilizers until 1980. It suffered from a fire in 1990 and the town didn't have a budget for any major repairs - only a new roof in the beginning of 2000s.

The linked article is 9 years old and today the situation isn't much changed - the building is slowly decaying and on the fence there are signs "for sale"
