1981 wurde das Garnisonsmuseum als Expositur des Stadtmuseums eröffnet. Der historisch äußerst günstig gelegene Standort auf der Kanonenbastei des Grazer Schloßberges gibt diesem Museum einen besonderen Charakter.

Uniformen, Waffen, Ausrüstungsgegenstände und Bildtafeln führen die BesucherInnen durch die militärische Geschichte der Stadt Graz. So erinnern die vier Kanonen in der Kanonenbastei an die Belagerung des Schloßberges durch die Franzosen.

In 1981, the garrison was opened as a museum exposition of the city museum. The historically extremely favorable sites on the cannon bastion of the Grazer Schlossberg gives the museum a special character.

Uniforms, weapons, equipment and panels lead visitors through the military history of the city of Graz. Thus, the four guns in the canon remind bastion at the siege of the castle hill by the French.
