The Leas is a wide open area that runs along the cliff top in Folkestone. There is a road and a promenade separated by a grassed area. The memorial is towards the eastern end of The Leas close to the town centre. It is set into the edge of the grassed area and sits on some slabs that are bordered by posts with a chain running around the perimeter. On the day of taking the pictures, for this waymark, there were two wreaths laid at the front of the memorial adding a splash of colour.

Description of Memorial: The memorial is a broze plaque set into a rock. The plaque has the inscription at the bottom. Top left is the RFC crest for 1914-1918 and top right is the RAF crest for 1939-1945. Between them are the latin words "Per Ardua / Ad Astra" (Through adversity to the stars). In the centre of the plaque is a bas-relief piece showing formations of aircraft and, immediately below the aircraft, is a bas-relief scene of the white cliffs of Dover.
