The Laie Temple was the fifth dedicated temple since the restoration.
The Temple was dedicated on Thanksgiving Day (November 27th) 1919 by then-Church President Heber J. Grant.
It has been called the "first temple taken to the people" because it was the first temple to be built away from where Church headquarters were located at the time of its building.
The Temple has a visitor's center and a family history center on site. If you go, and have time, I encourage you to explore the grounds behind the temple on the hill. Very peaceful, pleasant views and the wonder aroma of plumeria.
The Laie Temple is one of only three temples that were built without towers or spires (the other two are in Mesa, Arizona and Cardston, Alberta, Canada).
