The Cobblestone Ballroom still stands along the shores of Storm Lake, a testament to its history of providing fun for the townspeople. Built in 1929, this building offered a dining and dance hall which could hold 1500 people. After a fire in the mid-1940’s, a new kitchen and some banquet rooms were added.

Some of the bands who appeared at the Cobblestone were: Lawrence Welk, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Big Tiny Little, and Jan Garber. In the 50’s it was the place to go for “Teen Hops.” During this time entertainers included: Bobby Vee, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dee Jay and the Runaways, Conway Twitty, Johnny and the Hurricanes, the Rhythm Aces, and many others.

The Cobblestone Ballroom closed in 1986 after the owners passed away, and the people of the community are considering preserving it as an historical landmark. In 2003 it was inducted into the Iowa Rock'n Roll Music Association Hall of Fame.
