In April 2008 the ship Thomson Celebration received, with 215 meters long. It was the first ship to dock after the renovation, which helped improve conditions for navigation and berthing of large size.

The Portimão is the entrance to the port maritime cruises. It is situated in a region that makes tourism its main industry tourism came out the relevance of this renewal.
