Located outside the Westerkirk in Amsterdam and about a block away from the Anne Frank House Museum, this small sculpture requires notice.
It is only about 3 feet tall and on a pedestal of about 18 inches. It depicts Anne Frank in a plain dress with hands clasped behind her back and gazing into mid-space... accurately showing a young girl reflecting upon the non-frivolous worries of her day.
Unfortunately there is no information at the site (an none could be found online) about the artist or date.
Most people know the story of Frank, who was born in Germany in 1929. Her family moved to Amsterdam when the Nazis came to power. In 1942, the family went into hiding as the German occupiers hunted Jews to be sent to concentration camps. The Franks and another family hid in "The Secret Annex" of a factory around the block from this statue. The home is now a museum. In 1994, the Germans found them and Anne was sent to Bergen-Belson Concentration Camp (along with her sister) where she died at age 15 in 1945. The family who had hidden the Franks found Anne's diary and preserved it. It has been read by millions in many languages....and is notable for the amazing insight not shared by many young teens. Wikipedia (

"5535 Annefrank /?æn 'fræ?k/ is an inner main-belt asteroid, and member of the Augusta family. It was discovered by Karl Reinmuth in 1942. It is named after Anne Frank, the Dutch-Jewish diarist who died in a concentration camp (the name was not chosen until about 1995). The asteroid was used as a target to practice the flyby technique that the Stardust space probe would later use on the comet Wild."
