The Roman Catholic chapel St. Martin was built in 1744 in the center of the rural municipality Bättwil. Before 1791 it was called "Herz-Jesus-Kapelle" and since 1808 it is part of the combined parish of Witterswil-Bättwil.
The churchyard is located west of the church. Both are surrounded by a small stone wall. The cemetery has currently about 70-80 graves.
The text of the headstone "Zwei nimmer müde Hände rhn, hab Dank für all Dein Tun." (English: "Two hands that never have been tired rest, thank you for all your deeds.")
