Chute El Limón
The Lenón river has Its annual medium flow is 5 m³/s produced by the frequent rainfall in this part of the mountain range of Samanà peninsula. This peninsula is part of the Cordillera Septentrional ("Northern Mountain Range"), which extends from the northwestern coastal town of Monte Cristi, near the Haitian border, to the Samaná Peninsula in the east.
The waterfall consists of three outputs that empties the water slipping by a solid green wall, product of the hundreds of ferns and the presence of a high level of humidity of the area. It culminates in a natural pool formed by its fresh and crystal clear water.
How to get there
You can get to the waterfall through organized tours, through guides on the streets or completely on your own.
As you can imagine, there're loads and easy to find organized tours to El Limon. This is the best and safety way to get there.
If you love adventure and what to get there on your own, take the El Portillo road going East and stay on it until you get to the town of El Limon.
From El Limon and to reach the waterfalls you'll have to go on foot on a hard and slippery terrain. The best way, if you go on your own, is to get there on a horseback that you can easily rent nearby.
