This palindrome is located in the city of Phnom Penh, on the western shore of the central lake of the city, Boeng Kak. This particular area looks to me as if it has been recently reclaimed or at least landscaped from the shoreline. It may well be that in the future this area will be 'developed' (the region to the south east, across the lake, is now the Prime Minister's new offices). There is a large and substantial wall being built to divide this lake front land from the land on the other side of the road. At the time of my visit (September 2011) there was a single guard sitting in the shade, but no restriction upon my entry.

The palindrome itself is easy enough to find on the flat, open area. I suggest a hat and shades, it is hot, and humid. The red backpack in the photos indicates the location of the palindrome.

Speaking of the land in the vicinity, one slight draw back to this area is that it is part of the 'slums' of western Phnom Penh, which means, that, as a foreigner, when you approach and get off your bike (or exit the vehicle of your choice), you will be surrounded by locals asking you for money. There is no danger, and the slums are, all in all, kept neat and clean, but the people here see little cash money. So expect to be approached. My advice, if you want to give, $1 per family, give to the head of the family, or, conversely, if you don't want to give, say so strongly and don't change your mind. The children will also like to talk to you with their few words of English. After a while the people wander away, and watch you from a distance as you walk in circles on the hot sand.
