If trees could talk, this outdoor museum speaks volumes. Sunset Park is accessible 24/7 but is best visited during the summer and fall. The Living Heritage Tree Museum, a unique outdoor classroom on the shore of Storm Lake. One of the largest tree museums in the country, this park exhibits nearly 40 trees that are associated with historical events or famous people. One of the trees has grown from a seed that was carried on a trip to the moon on Apollo 14. The plaque reads: “American Sycamore Moon. This tree is an American Sycamore grown from a seed carried to the moon and back by crewmen of the Apollo 14 flight. Planting of this tree symbolizes the past and future importance of trees and forest resources.”

There is no admission and parking is available. The park is handicapped accessible.
