The plaque, set on a granite stone, reads:
"International / Tree Foundation / Originally Men of Trees // The black poplar were planted on the / 3rd November 1999 to mark the millennium. // The planting was carried out by the Earl / of Lindsay, President of the International / Tree Foundation and Susan Hampshire, a Vice President, accompanied by Spencer G. Keys, Chairman / in co-operation with English Partnerships".

There are two side inscriptions that read:
"Green / Peninsula / Investing in the / 21st Century", and
"English / Partnerships".
