An infantryman 'stands easy' with his rifle atop a grey granite plinth carved from the same stone. The names of the dead from the region are carved into three sides of the monument, an a dedication is on the front. The back of the plinth also has an excerpt from McCrae's poem "In Flanders Fields".
The Memorial Park also includes subsequent memorials to World War II and a Norwegian contingent that trained in the area during that war.
