This monument was built in 1924 by the Lest We Forget club of Lacombe. There are 72 names written on this monument from Lacombe, which had a population of around 2,500 in 1912.
The Lest We Forget club was formed in December 1922 by a group of widows, wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters of WW1 veterans.
The monument cost the club $3,500.00 to build. The park has since seen many improvements along the way, and the Lacombe memorial centre is under construction for a major renovation at the time of this listing. The parks maintenance was turned over to the town of Lacombe in 1955 under the condition that it forever remain named "Lest We Forget Park."
