Schaffhausen is a town in the North of Switzerland with one of the best preserved medieval centers.
There is a great view over town from Munot. This is a 16th century fort on a hill over town and the town's landmark. There is a stairway with over 200 steps directly from the town center to Munot, but you can also take the easier way around the hill.
