This memorial is dedicated to Yankee superstar and Fargo’s hometown hero Roger Maris. The commemorative monument at Lindenwood Park highlights Maris’ baseball records and pays tribute to the year of his record breaking home run.
The year was 1961. I recall watching the game on TV when the New York Yankee hit his 61st home-run, breaking the all-time record set by Babe Ruth. That great event is now captured in this tribute along with his athletic stats and photograph. The memorial is at the park entry near the fountain.
