Fargo’s hometown hero is found in this relief sculpture on the south side of the entrance to Fargo’s Scheels All Sports store. The year was 1961. I recall watching the game on TV when baseball great Roger Maris hit his 61st home-run, breaking the all-time record set by Babe Ruth many years before. Now that great event is a permanent fixture on this sporting goods store, a collage of three images of this New York Yankee’s legend in action.
