Just outside Dwingeloo, on the edge of the National Park Dwingelderveld find Planetron Cinedome. A special attraction just by the design of the building. On a large dome-shaped projection of 350 sqm, the largest screen in Northern Netherlands, dazzling performances are shown.
The Cinedome Planetron in Dwingeloo introduces you to the world that normally always so far away: the cosmos! Planetron Cinedome brings the world closer with the huge dome that can be used as a projection. With 350m2 of projection surface is the largest screen north of the Netherlands!
Cinedome Planetron has the largest optical telescope in the Netherlands. With this telescope you can scour the cosmos for yourself to known celestial objects. So you can clear day the rings of Saturn and see the famous constellations. And if it is not clear weather, then you are totally free once again. For children Planetron Cinedome a questionnaire composed. Based on the questionnaire and the use of the telescope, they deserve a medal star gazing!
The huge dome-shaped projection with the overwhelming sound system give the universe accurately. But that's not all. In the evenings let nature the universe for what it is, and we look to the earthly nature. The films "Bears" and "Roar, Lions of the Kalahari", projected on the dome, you have an amazing movie like never before.
Dwingeloo (Drents: Dwingel) is een dorp in de provincie Drenthe in Nederland, behorende tot de gemeente Westerveld. Tot de gemeentelijke herindeling van 1 januari 1998 was het een zelfstandige gemeente, waartoe ook de buurschappen Westeinde, Eemster, Leggeloo, Lhee en Lheebroek en gedeeltes van Geeuwenbrug en Dieverbrug behoorden. Op 1 januari 2004 had het dorp 2363 inwoners.
De grote groene brink in het centrum van het dorp is beschermd dorpsgezicht. Dwingeloo werd in september 2012 uitgeroepen tot Groenste dorp van Europa.
