Rush Springs is a town of about 1500 on Highway 81 in Grady County. It is the home of the famous Watermelon Festival held the second Saturday in August each year. This is a farming community which lies just west of the well known Chisholm Trail, used to drive cattle from Texas, across Oklahoma Territory, to the rail heads in Kansas. In the park east of town, the Rush Spring rises to the surface and is a well used watering hole for local residents.
Sharon's Diner is just south of the main street of Rush Springs, Blakeley Avenue (Highway 17). It is addressed at 103 S. Rush Avenue. This is a popular hometown diner, serving breakfast and lunch just like your Mom would.
