The Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home at 5258 Washington Road in Albany has served the community for decades, providing professional and caring services for the local residents including many of my relatives. The old brick building has been modified over the years with the addition of a portico and lower brick facade on the front, but otherwise it has remained pretty much unchanged.
They may have built a bypass so that US Rte 50 no longer passes in front of the funeral home, but the Jordan family and the funeral home has remained an institution in the town. Originally called the Bigony Funeral Home, memories come back when I was little of the funeral directors bringing all the funeral paraphernalia out to my grandparents home to hold their funeral at the farm house. Later the Jordan's bought the funeral home but kept the Bigony name, adding their own.
