This work is part of a system of bridges that are located on Calzada Lazaro Cardenas, since this road is one of the busiest in the city and the 4 municipalities through central Guadalajara metropolitan area from east to west and west east , starting near Tonala, reaching Zapopan Cubes. With this work, Calzada Lazaro Cardenas viaduct will become a low carbon, and will have fewer traffic lights. Alongside this work, another bridge was built on the same road but Lazaro Cárdenas to its junction with the Ibero-American Solidarity Avenue, better known as the Carretera a Chapala, in the area of the Alamo in Tlaquepaque Bridge named Alamo.

The bridge is named in honor of Jorge Matute Remus civil engineer known for building the repositioning of Telefónica Mexico.
