The total length of what is called the Manistique Boardwalk is over 1 3/4 miles, however much of it is asphalt or concrete. There are several sections that due to the shifting sand are composed of wooden planks. This way mark is for one of those sections which has parking located where it begins. Along the boardwalk are interpretive signs that describe either historical events, the flora and fauna, or other interesting facts. The fact that millions of pounds of sawdust were dumped in the bay many years ago and are still visible in a few locations is a more interesting one. Large portions of the boardwalk are wheelchair accessible, but blowing sand may also be present at times.
