The monument can be found on the summit, and is approximately 15 ft high, made of granite. A burial vault can be found at the bottom of the hill in an obvious circular enclosure, though the enclosure is very overgrown. The whole area is in a clearing separated from the surrounding forest.

Although this was once visible from miles away, it is currently inside a forest, which makes it a lot more challenging. However, work has begun on deforesting the area so it will probably be visible again in a few years.

This is only sensibly accessible from the road alongside Brooklands Burn. The track is not signposted, so a map and compass would be wise.

Most of the walk can be done on forestry tracks - however, some of these are seriously muddy due to the machinery currently being used in the area, so use with care. The tracks are obvious though - there is no need to go into the forest.

Beware of machinery in use in the forest. Do not go into areas being cleared by machinery.

It is about a 30-minute walk from the road. The last 400 yards is very marshy and not clear. Do not go looking for cache in foggy weather, darkness, or after prolonged rain. I would advise not going alone in case you come into difficulty in the isolated woods.
