This family of early settlers parades across the front of the Treaty Site History Center. Located at the Traverse des Sioux Park the silhouette sculpture represents the European Americans who arrived with their oxen to farm the prairies and or to trade furs with the native Dakota people. The place is translated as the “crossing place of the Sioux.” Nearly hidden in the tall prairie grass on the north side of the parking lot, one will find another family traveling by wagon.
